After the rollercoaster of a year the world has had, the annual Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards are a most welcome celebration of all the places and people making travel memorable and magical. Over 800,000 readers submitted a record-breaking number of responses rating their travel experiences, recognising just over 50 hotels from the SLH portfolio in the 2021 results.
Special mention goes to The Sukhothai Bangkok, an urban oasis which was crowned the Best Hotel in Bangkok. All three SLH South African properties, The Cellars-Hohenort, The Marine, and The Plettenberg, were highlighted amongst the best hotels in Southern Africa, while the Farncombe Estate in the Cotswolds scored a hat-trick with The Fish Hotel, Dormy House, and Foxhill Manor all awarded in the UK’s Top 30 Hotels. Stylish sister properties Le Coucou Méribel, Hôtel Lou Pinet, and Hôtel Crillon le Brave topped the French list, while the carbon neutral eco-duo Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda and Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti secured spots in the Top 30 Destination Spa Resorts in the World – both wellness retreats are members of the recently launched Considerate Collection, which spotlights actively sustainable luxury hotels.
