For some short-haul sunshine, we\u2019re casting away to Formentera<\/a> for a blissed-out, barefoot break.<\/p>\n

1. Teranka, Formentera \u2013 Spain<\/h2>\n

Resting its steps-from-the-sand rooms on the southern shores of the small Balearic island of Formentera, Teranka<\/a> is all about inspiring a slower pace of life, and anchoring guests to its wave-lapped natural surroundings (the hotel\u2019s name quite literally combines \u2018terra\u2019 and \u2018anka\u2019, \u2018earth\u2019 and \u2018ground\u2019.) Set across three buildings \u2013 Mar, Tierra and Cielo \u2013 each minimalist space promises ocean, forest or sweeping views stretching all the way to La Mola\u2019s peak. Each has its own identity, whether it\u2019s walls crafted from sun-warmed Formentera stone or rooftop suites illuminated by starlight. It\u2019s a spirit that carries through to the main restaurant, Teranka Garden – with an alfresco kitchen and olive tree backdrop. Or you could simply order lunch (and island-inspired cocktails) to be served at your poolside cabana.
